Sustainability

Striving for a Sustainable, Cleaner, Safer world

As sustainable construction contractors we champion building methods and business practises that contribute to a cleaner and safer environment.

With every project Kent Structures undertakes there is a responsibility to make our work processes more sustainable and community friendly.

As well as setting targets for sustainable construction and adhering to our aims and objectives, we actively search for opportunities to give back to the community and environment.

This frequently involves nature-based partnerships as part of wider schemes and carbon reduction methods on general construction with regards manufacturing and transportation.

CARBON REDUCTION MEASURES

Our own fuel consumption is managed in conjunction with Forest Carbon forming part of the Clean Air Partnership.

Forest Carbon leads the way in developing woodland creation and peatland restoration projects for carbon capture and ecosystem services in the UK. We have planted over 10.3 million new trees in 220+ new woodlands since 2006 with our partners removing over 2.1 million tonnes of CO2e from the atmosphere, as well as providing a host of other benefits to society, including habitat creation, biodiversity support, flood mitigation, river ecosystem improvement and public access.”

Energy Consumption

Kent Structures monitors energy use on both our own premises and construction sites and consistently strive towards lowering our carbon footprint across all aspects of our works.

We promote green alternatives and always make sustainable energy suggestions for client projects. Allthough it may impact on budget initially, it will provide savings year upon year as well as benefiting the environment.

Sustainable Impact

Kent Structures actively promote sustainable products and will seek alternatives for a design if appropriate to do so. We source locally wherever possible and utilise local trades and labour to further reduce our impact on the environment.

Detailed plans and stringent procurement ensure purchases are based on exact measurements thus reducing any material waste. If it can be reused on site, it will be!

Community Friendly

Kent Structures engages with the local community and provides suggestion boxes for local residents. We provide a QR code for any suggestions or complaints residents may have whilst we are on site.

Subscribed to the Considerate Contractors Scheme, we strive to achieve the maximum level of Outstanding on all projects. As sustainable construction contractors we are committed to supporting local community initiatives and charitable causes.
